Hey there Wholetonians!
I hope this week’s email finds you healthy, happy, and whole! With everything that's happening in our world today…I am thankful that there is an alternative to stress, insomnia, and fear: a good healthy dose of Wholetones!
So let's get to this week's musing, “Take Care.”
But before I unpack my thought for the day, let's look at the definition of the word, “Caretaker:” | ˈkerˌtākər | noun
- a person employed to look after a public building or a house in the owner's absence.
• [as modifier] holding power temporarily: his was a caretaker regime. - chiefly North American a person employed to look after people or animals.
Now, let's look at the definition of the word: “Caregiver:” | ˈkerˌɡivər | noun
a family member or paid helper who regularly looks after a child or a sick, elderly, or disabled person.

Notice that traditionally, givers and takers, have a polar opposite meaning, yet when connected with the word, care, taker and giver, become, synonymous! So when it comes to caring, giving and taking equals…love. Whatever you are taking care of, people, animals, land, it is a huge responsibility, and an honor.
The purest definition of love is when you do something selfless, caring for something or someone, more than you care about yourself. A great example of this is the mother of an infant, for all intent and purpose, she surrenders her life, for the the life she carried for nine months. And once a mom…always a mom, this I know personally. My mom thought I was more important than her career, or dream; in fact, I became the dream.
And while we are on the topic of care taking and sacrifice, there is one who was willing to literally sacrifice His life, to become the caretaker of the whole world!
John 3:16 New International Version (NIV), “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Did you see the connection? How did God show His love to us? He gave…He sacrificed His only son, in order that mankind could have eternal life. And in doing so, through Christ, God became the ultimate caretaker, (and caregiver) of all! Think about it friends, what if each of us preferred one another over ourselves? It would change the world.
Philippians 2: 3-4, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.…”
I have given you a lot to think about, before we can change the world, we must first change ourselves.
So until next time, take care.
Be Whole,
Michael S. Tyrrell
