More Than Words

Tuesday greetings Wholetonians!
Praying that this week’s musing is a word in season for everyone. But before we go there, how many of you knew that we launched a brand-new streaming service? If you haven’t checked it out yet, please visit: https://music.wholetones.com/ and take it for a test drive! I feel very confident you will love it and will want to share with all your friends who have not yet experienced the soothing, healing frequencies of Wholetones.
And now for my “WORD” for today:
Words…they are everywhere, in front of us and all around us. Wherever we go, we see words. On road signs, billboards, our phones, computers, magazines, mail, email, text messages, books etc. Some words cause us curiosity, some bring joy, some worry or sadness, some cause anger, some inspire us, some words excite us and cause joyful anticipation (as in a wedding announcement or news of a new baby!)
For me, the best words are ones that come from a heart of love, words that build up, are kind and bring a sense of peace. In fact, words are far more powerful than most realize. Why? Because ALL WORDS are frequencies. Words can liberate or imprison, create or destroy, bring healing or pain. So that old nursery rhyme, “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me” couldn’t be more wrong.
Proverbs 18:21 NASB
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Read that again. Did you realize the power your words possess? If we can learn to continuously speak positive words of affirmation in our homes, to our children, over our own lives, in our workplace and even to total strangers, we would change the world…one person at a time. Now, perhaps you can understand the title of this week’s musing, “More Than Words.” What we say is what is in the process of becoming, if we believe it!
One of the secrets of powerful communication is intention, or in other words, knowing what you are going to say before you say it. There is a lot of unnecessary “word pollution” in today’s culture, which is primarily due to people speaking first and thinking last. So, choose YOUR words carefully, for they are the building materials of your life. Say what you mean and mean what you say.
Have you ever heard anyone say, “if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all?” Sometimes, we say things out of our negative emotions, fear or personal hurts and those words can be very hurtful and damaging to others. Then, when cooler heads prevail, we realize we probably should not have said anything because the damage we caused with our words was far worse than the actual issue.
It’s much better to speak when emotions are not involved…unless the emotion is love. Let your words this week bring peace, joy, hope. Let them put a smile on someone’s face wherever you go. We can all be an effective tool for positive change in this world, one kind word, one smile at at time!
Proverbs 16:24 ESV
Gracious (kind, pleasant) words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
So today, let me leave you with these words, straight out of my heart. I love you, I am thankful for you, and there is nobody else in the whole world like YOU! Have a wonderful day!
Until next time…
Be Whole,
Michael S. Tyrrell
